News, News & More News

Our little studio is kicking with excitement, so I’d love to share what’s been goin’ on…

First, we are so very excited to welcome Jenn Appleton to our gang.  (yes that will make Jenn and Jen as our office gals)  Jenn being here is really an answer to prayer…when Tami left for another awesome opportunity, Jenn literally fell straight from Heaven.  (Well, close to it as she comes from Santa Barbara)  Jenn is a graduate of the amazing Brooks Institute and an accomplished photographer herself.  Rather than shooting for us, she will be helping Matt in the office and making sure all goes smoothly on the back-end of things.  As she puts it ,”I just love to sit at the computer all day with me and my Photoshop.”  Halleluia!  What could make it even better you ask?  Well, she just so happens to be a former kindergarten teacher who loves on my kiddos big time.  So a major score there!  Oh wait, and there’s one other thing….she works part time at Anthropologie.  Can you say friends and family discount anyone?  So, suffice it to say, welcome Jenn, we love you!  {and thanks also for the fun images of moi at the top of this blog!}

Many of you know that James, our retoucher extraordinare, lives and works for us from Thailand.  Amazing what computers can do, huh?  This past Saturday, he and the lovely Ooy were married in Bangkok.  Congrats James and Ooy (or “Joy” as their wedding invitation calls them…so cute)! And we look forward to trip out to visit some day….

And last but for sure not least, check out this cute little baby bump!  That’s our very own Jen, glowin’ with her characteristic fantastic smile.  Jen and Evan will welcome their baby boy in October, just a year after their beautiful wedding in Maui.  In other Jen news, she is also living her dream of being a youth pastor at her church in Frisco.  So we could not be more happy for the Mulligan clan, even though there will quite a few tears shed when she leaves us next month.

Will (7 months)+ his big sisters

We just love this family!  We have documented Will’s sisters throughout their entire lives….and even though they live in fabulous California, they still make it back for some photo love from us!  What an honor!  Well, this session was all about Mr. Will (you know, the 3rd child thing…), and it just cracks me up that this electric-blue-eyed guy is the brother of 2 big-brown-eyed girls.

WAITASECOND!  Seriously, Spencer Grace, how could you possibly be 5 already??

Avery(4)+her mommy’s belly

Sweet Avery’s family made the trek up from Austin so we could see them again…..and this time there is somethin’ cookin!  Avery is super excited to meet her baby brother, and so are we.  They’ll be back in August!

Nina (18)

How fun to work with the beautiful Nina and her mom Swati last week.  At 18, Nina is off to SMU next year….so these weren’t exactly her senior pictures, but ones to commemorate a really exciting time in her and her family’s life.  This session was so great for me too…a chance to stretch a little from our norm around here and to really play behind the camera.  We started inside the studio and then outside.  Then we hopped in the car and explored the back alleys of downtown Plano.  Thanks, Nina!  I hope you have a great summer traveling.  And get ready!  Next year will one of the best of your life…

On a side note, I am so jealous of all the HS Seniors and the options they have for ROCKIN’ fashion-inspired amazing senior pictures these days.  I can say that my senior pics looked nothing like these.  I can also say that my 18 year old commemorative pictures contained the following:  a perm, a giant “92” prop, a glamor-shots style makeover…complete with purple eyeshadow, a black feather boa for around my shoulders, and lest we not forget the orange stirrup pants with the orange, yellow and hot pink striped baggy sweater to match.

{this is a monster post!  Just too many favs…}

Colin (7 Months)
