Some of you may already know about the wonderful work of an organization we support called Ark of the Rainbow. This is a great organization that is providing hope and essential services to people in a slum of Bangalore in India. Ark of the Rainbow is both a school and community center that serves incredible people and makes tangible differences in the lives of the people served. One of the main goals of this program is to educate the very vulnerable children of the slum who are susceptible to the very real threats of human trafficking and sex slavery. The education offered here also helps combat the practice of underage marriage and teen pregnancy, both of which decrease significantly with increased education, especially for girls. This community center offers a free weekly health clinic, and after school Boy’s and Girl’s Club that ministers to teenagers, and a Women’s Club that supports the ladies of this community.
We’ve had the opportunity twice now to visit, serve, and photograph the school…..make sure to click here to see images!
Through supporting Ark we’ve met wonderful people both abroad and stateside. We first met this family at a charity benefit event for Ark of the Rainbow, and we recently got to take photos of their sweet girls ~ newborn baby Eliza and her big sister Nora. Nora is taking her big sister role very seriously and loves to love on baby Eliza. Nora is just 22 months old and did great the whole time! Little Eliza slept like a champ during the majority of the session and was happy to be cuddled and loved on by her big sister. So sweet!

Another amazing Maui session!! We loved hooking up with these friends at the gorgeous Montage Kapalua on Maui. I think this is what heaven will look like, honestly.
Aidan, Bailee and Deacon are triplet 5th grade friends of our son, Cal….and we love how our school fosters such a sense of community! It’s been great getting to know and become friends with mom and dad, too, through the years. The photo session was just part of the fun we had with these guys, as we also spent time snorkeling with turtles, hanging out on the beach, and watching all the humpback whales in the distance. We timed our trip just right as it was humpback mating and calving season, and we could always see them breeching when we looked out on the horizon.
Now we just have to figure out a way to go back to Maui; a week was not nearly enough time! Our own family got the iPhone treatment the whole trip….we were on the go and at the beach so much that I took not nearly the amount of images that I would have liked with the big girl camera. After seeing how gorgeous this family’s new artwork for their home is coming along, I’m bummed that we don’t have the same. So yes, a trip back to Hawaii is certainly in order. 🙂
We recently took a spring break trip with our kids to Maui, and to say the week was amazing would be a huge understatement! It’s getting painfully clear that our kiddos are getting so big, and as we start to count down how many more spring breaks they will have with us…well the number is too little. So needless to say, having a career that allows us to travel to some pretty fabulous places is a huge blessing. We mixed a little bit of business with a lot of fun when we met up with these sweet friends on Kaanapali Beach. Dylan and Ella go to our kids’ school, and we have become friends with the whole crew as the years have gone by.
We loved being able to coordinate a Hawaiian sunset session evening to memorialize the family’s trip; Mom and Dad honeymooned on Maui and had looked forward to sharing the island with their kids for years. The rainy day made us a little nervous leading up to the shoot, but everything worked out perfectly! The soft post-shower light and dreamy clouds made for the most beautiful backdrop. It was the perfect beach family portrait session!
The family just finished renovating their home, and we are in the process of producing a gallery wall full of canvas images from this trip. The joy of creating art for families is the reason why we do what we do! Look for an update on this post once the art is installed; it’s going to be gorgeous!
Even though fall is traditionally senior portrait time in Texas, in our opinion, spring is ideal! The class of 2018 can get a head start and take advantage of the perfect weather we have the next few weeks. We find ourselves mostly photographing families with younger children, but we are always so excited to photograph senior portraits. There’s an excited buzz in the air about the upcoming big move and college on the horizon. We can’t believe our oldest is only a few short years away from this bittersweet phase!
Claire and Juliette are gorgeous twins, who are both are so strong and at the same time kind spirited; they are bound to soar to amazing heights. Needless to say, have such a special place in our hearts. The benefit of being in this industry for over seventeen years is the relationships we have formed with our clients. The first time we met these 2017 graduates, they were just one year old! Can you believe it?! Sixteen seemingly short years later, and here we are…celebrating their big transition from high school seniors, to college freshmen! We’ve had the unique opportunity to work not only with the ladies you see here, but their brother, Jack, as well. We remember his senior portraits like it was yesterday. The thing that has stuck with me the most over the years, is the way he interacted with his twin sisters. He had such a fun relationship with each one. The fact that he wanted them incorporated into his senior portraits spoke immensely of the love he had and still has for his beautiful sisters.
We can’t wait to see what the future holds for these girls! What an honor it’s been to be a part of their family’s story all through the years!

What better time than the first week of spring to share with you this in-home newborn lifestyle session. Maybe it’s this perfect Dallas weather or the wildflowers blooming all around, but I’ve had babies on the brain all week! Love them!
We’ve had the immense pleasure of working with this sweet family since their eldest, Ford, was a just a little baby bump. The first time we met these three sweet kiddo’s mama, we instantly clicked. We know how lucky we are to have had the opportunity to create a long lasting relationship through yearly sessions, capturing families as they grow. The last time we met,we got to meet up with the whole crew to capture an extended family session for them. Take a peek here! Hand’s down, one of the best parts of this job is the unique ability to watch a family grow; in size and love. We’ve gotten to see Ford grow up from a sleepy newborn to the super energetic and hilarious big-brother to Maxey and John Atwood (love his middle name) he is today. Speaking of Maxey, every time we see her, we swear she grows a foot! What a gorgeous little girl!
This family lives on a stunning expanse of beautiful acreage about 2 hours west of Dallas. We were thrilled at the opportunity to capture this session at their home in the country for a little change of pace; we documented Ford and Maxey’s newborn sessions in our studio. We love documenting lifestyle shots, especially for newborn sessions. It shows the natural and organic love that flows so freely through each family. We could not get enough of the sweet snuggles and giggles shared between Ford and Maxey with their new best friend and sibling! We can already tell these 3 are going to have a lifelong friendship full of love and laughter, and we’re excited to document it all!
Make sure to scroll down to see some gorgeous detail shots of their immaculately decorated home! What a treat it was to spend the day with these friends!
