We’ve been enjoying the last little bit of summer

It’s the little things that make me *so* happy!  Cal is digging asparagus and goes back for seconds.  Yesss!

Dallas Child hooked us up with some *awesome* seats to the circus last week.  Our first experience with elephant parades and $12 cotton candy!  Thanks Jill…..we had tons of fun!

Kind of random…..but…..another little thing that makes me smile:  its been a solid 3 weeks that I have remembered to use my reusable grocery sacks!  Every time!  Our house is officially annoying-polluting-plastic-sack-free. 

I am the worst!  I never seem to make the time to go through my own family’s pictures till a month or so after they are taken.  Sad.  Very sad.  But here are some snaps from Ava’s 5th birthday party:

Matt’s mom is the true Ace of Cakes (BTW, have you seen that show on Food Network?  Its Crazy!).  Every year, her birthday cake tops the last.  This amazing Rapunzel’s Castle was a huge hit!  The party was “Ava’s favorites things.”  So we had hotdogs and cheetos, swimming and painting.  It was a blast.

 And here is one of her favorite presents she got…. a caterpiller house, and the subsequent “painted lady” butterflies.

We’ve been enduring, “Oh she’s so cute, how old is she?”, for too long. So this week we figured it was time to get our son’s very first haircut. As the curls got chopped, I teared up! But Cal is so proud of his new cool look.

Yesterday Cal celebrated his big t-w-o by doing some of his favorite things:

Eating “gakwee” (which is Cal’s all time favorite word, meaning anything sweet or bread-y. A typical sentence from our linguistic genius sounds like this “humma hoona dono gakwee peese?” (loosely translated to gimme the cupcake before I loose it! PLEASE)

Jumping on the best birthday present in the whole world:

And generally loving on his new best friend, Jet. (Jet is hyper Rosie’s new brother. We got this sweet, mellow 4 month old lab mix a couple weeks ago. The goal is to have Jet help c-a-l-m down Rosie and keep her from bolting out the front door each time it’s opened the way Huskies do. So far, it’s been successful in some regards, but the puppy pee and poop on the carpet factor is wearing on me.)

BTW, I love love his new T Shirt we found in Rosemary Beach. Check out all of Em Tanner’s designs, I’d love to get a bunch for each kid for the summer.
